We have a great opportunity for a Support Worker required Yelverton, Devon. Part-time to full-time hours available.

Westcountry Case Management are helping a young man and his family recruit a support worker to join an existing team on a part-time or full-time basis.

About the role:

This role is focused upon the support of an energetic, young man in his own home, attached to the family accommodation. You will work closely alongside experienced team members and as part of the wider multi-disciplinary team.

You will be directly employed by the client under his Court Appointed Deputyship.

Full training and professional supervision will be provided to ensure you can do the job to the best of your abilities.

You will undertake a wide range of duties relating to care, personal needs, and rehabilitation.

The client enjoys a range of fun social activities such as basketball, choir singing and banger racing so you will spend lots of time out and about.

When at home the client is supported with skill development activities and other in-house activities.

What you'll be working:

We require someone to undertake Part-time to Full-time and bank team members. This contract would consist of daytime shifts with the possibility of occasional night shift cover for holiday and sickness absence within the team.

You will receive payment monthly and will be paid for work delivered 21st to 20th of each calendar month.

Pattern of support:

Weekdays and Weekends - 08.00-20.00

Waking Night Shifts (as required) 22.00 – 07.00

Rates of pay:

Weekday: £14.29 p/h. Weeknight: £15.58 p/h.

Weekend Day: £16.09 p/h. Weekend Night: £17.54

Bank holiday day rate: £28.58. Bank holiday night rate: £31.16

What you'll be doing:

Some of the main roles and responsibilities:

  • To ensure consistency of approach with the client in accordance with advised approaches to care and any emerging therapy aims.
  • To liaise with and support the family as required.
  • To work as part of a team and communicate appropriately with fellow team members.
  • To follow the service user plan as documented for the client.
  • To participate in manual handling procedures as specified for the client.
  • To ensure opportunity is given to participate in activities as identified by client / others while achieving a balance between activity and rest for the client.
  • To deliver programmes of social and therapeutic development as directed by the relevant professionals.
  • To assist the client to ensure an adequate level of hygiene is maintained.

What you'll have:

  • You should have experience, flexibility and be able to confidently deliver care and support to a 23 year old young man with cognitive, emotional and behaviourally complex needs.
  • You should have a creative, positive attitude to contribute to activity planning and delivery.
  • You should hold a full, clean driving licence to support the client in the community- the role involves frequent trips in the client’s own vehicle.
  • Previous experience working with individuals with cognitive and developmental difficulties, would be beneficial.

Interviews

Interviews will be held remotely followed by 2nd stage interview with the client and family.
