Join Our Team as a Part-Time Support Worker in Yardley, Birmingham
Person-centred care that makes a real difference.

Are you passionate about supporting people to live life on their own terms?
Would you enjoy flexible, fulfilling work where you can build meaningful relationships and truly understand the person you support?

If so, we’d love to welcome you to Active Care in the Home, part of the UK’s largest provider of complex care.

About the Role

You will be working alongside an established team member to provide one-to-one support to a friendly, happy-go-lucky gentleman in his own home. He lives with his wife and brother-in-law and has a close, supportive family, including a son who lives nearby and visits regularly. The home also includes two much-loved, friendly female Chihuahuas. The client has well-managed schizophrenia, stable health conditions, and reduced mobility, and benefits from calm, reliable, person-centred support that promotes independence and comfort. His wife provides much of the day-to-day support, with family accompanying him when out. We are looking for someone respectful and personable, who can naturally fit into family life, anticipate what needs to be done, and maintain professional boundaries. This is a rewarding opportunity to provide consistent care in a warm, supportive home environment.

What You’ll Be Doing
• Delivering personalised care and support with daily living, including personal care, mobility, meals and household tasks.
• Encouraging independence, social engagement and maintaining familiar routines.
• Providing continuity and stability through reliable, consistent support.
• Working confidently and professionally, showing initiative while respecting boundaries.
• Communicating effectively with the client, family and wider care team to ensure high standards of care.

When You’ll Work
• Flexible rota assignments.
• Daily 6-hour shifts from 8am–2pm.
• Zero-hours contract, offering flexibility to fit around your lifestyle.

What We’re Looking For
• A kind, caring and reliable individual.
• Someone with strong communication skills and a genuine commitment to person-centred care.

What You’ll Get
• Up to £13.00 per hour (depending on experience and qualifications).
• Active Awards Programme to recognise and celebrate your achievements.
• Refer a Friend Scheme – earn up to £1,500.
• Ongoing support from our experienced clinical and leadership teams to help you develop and grow.

At Active Care Group, we want everyone to feel welcome and supported. We encourage applications from people of all backgrounds and experiences. If you need any reasonable adjustments during the recruitment or interview process, just let us know and we’ll be very happy to discuss this with you.
